The Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana Honors Barath Raman with Outstanding Young Lawyer Award

The Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana (DTCI) has named Lewis Wagner, LLP attorney Barath Raman the 2020 recipient of the Outstanding Young Lawyer award. DTCI is an association of Indiana lawyers who defend clients in civil litigation; the group supports and assists their members in substantive and management aspects of their law practices—advocating for both lawyers and clients and providing a voice of reason in the government, legal profession, and community at large.

The Outstanding Young Lawyer award is presented annually to a selected attorney under 35 years old who has shown leadership in service to the Indiana defense bar, the national defense bar, and the community.  Raman, a member of the Lewis Wagner Litigation group, has been selected for his rigorous defense practice, his dedication to the legal community, and advocacy in support of Indianapolis youth.

Raman tried four cases and been involved in two appeals during his short time at Lewis Wagner—taking on more responsibility with each trial. He has demonstrated his commitment to the community by co-founding Suited Up, a program providing economically disadvantaged college-bound students with dress attire and professional development support. He also serves as co-president of Friends of Riley, a fundraising group who work in support of Riley Children’s Hospital.

“Barath is a natural leader in the arenas of both law and community service,” said Tom Hays, Lewis Wagner partner. “He is a friend to all—inspiring others through his unparalleled work ethic, selfless giving to others, infectious zest for life, and inclusive personality.”
